I pulled into Great Blue Heron Casino & Hotel in Port Perry after a long stretch of Ontario road, exactly the use case so many guests describe: better to sleep clean than push through dark highway miles. Check-in was kind and uncomplicated. The room was quiet, tidy, and comfortable — pillows that did not fight me, sheets that smelled right.

I did walk the casino floor. It was not packed on my night, which I liked, and staff were patient explaining games to people who looked new. The restaurant inside made dinner a non-decision, which is sometimes the highest praise after travel.

What stayed with me

This is not a downtown design statement. It is a practical, friendly overnight with a gaming floor attached. Guests who arrive for shows or a ladies’ night get an easy room upstairs; guests who skip the casino entirely still leave happy about sleep quality.

Would I recommend it?

I had read some reviews about this establishment before coming here and they were very negative but after staying here for a night I find them uncalled for and unfounded. I had no issues here at all. Everyone’s situation is different of course but all I did was find the service was great, the room was clean and excellent and the casino was fun. The restaurant was also convenient to have in the casino. I would definitely stay here again if my travels took me through this area. 😎👍

Came here for a ladies night. We had a great time watching the rolling stones tribute and walking around the casino. Our room was clean and check-in was easy. They also gave us early check-in as we had come straight from a fundraiser and didn't want to wait around town until 4pm. We were a little disappointed they only had one bar and restaurant, which were the same area. They have a strict one drink at a time rule, which is understandable but they refused to give us a round of shots until all of us had finished our drinks. The bartender was friendly, but kept telling us we were"being watched". We assumed it was a joke, but each time one of us ordered a drink or we were laughing the staff would point at the camera. It was a little strange.

I really like this casino, but can't win anything big. I have went multiple times spend alot and little wins. I noticed people betting very small amounts on the slots win. Im going back to try one more time hopefully it changes. The staff are friendly they have a variety of slots food is good.

Great experience with the hotel and casino. Rooms are really nice and clean. For the first time, able to sleep on hotel pillow, not too bulky. The Eatery is a great place to meet up with friends/teammates for a meal or just to watch the game. Friendly staff. No complaints here. Had my first casino experience. The staff member was quite helpful and explained everything to us. However, surprisingly the casino was not very busy, which was great!

We had a great stay at the Great Blue Heron hotel. We did not visit the casino, so cannot comment on that. Our hotel room was clean and quiet, which was especially nice for a Friday night. The staff were kind and check-in was smooth. Will definitely stay again when visiting friends in Scugog.

This is almost exactly what they say a home away from home especially for those guests who needs a place to stay after a long day of trying (their luck on gambling) and finding it difficult to do the long drive home in the dark highway. This hotel is one of my cleanest on the list, only second to none.!! The staff are so knowledgeable and really helpful and always do their best to accommodate the guests and their needs. Lots of ample parking and very safe place. I give it a 10+
